Brightlands Materials
Center (BMC) celebrated its tenth anniversary. A conference at its home base in
Geleen, attended by approximately one hundred guests, focused on BMC's history,
its most important development (SunSmart solar control glass), and the reuse of
glass.
Panel discussion on the
importance of smart glass innovations
The anniversary
conference also featured a panel discussion on the importance of improving
energy efficiency through innovative coatings and promoting circularity. A
highlight was the development of SunSmart, thermochromic smart windows that
actively regulate solar heat gain and thus significantly reduce the energy
consumption of buildings. This smart glass offers benefits in all seasons and
operates without an external energy source, making it unique and attractive for
both homes and offices.
Through close collaboration and innovation, BMC works on solutions that contribute to a more sustainable society. For example, BMC collaborates intensively with organizations such as TNO and companies like GSF Glasgroep and Thomsa Glass. José Zaman of Thomsa participated in the panel discussion and shared his opinion on the importance of using dynamic glazing to save energy and
